The short version

WV Paycheck Calculator is built from the ground up to respect taxpayer confidentiality. Everything you enter into our calculator — including gross wages, hourly rates, pay frequency, Form IT-104 withholding allowances, 401(k) pre-tax deductions, and municipal city service fee selections — is processed exclusively inside your local web browser.

Those values are never transmitted across the network to our servers, never saved in a remote database, and never shared with or sold to third parties.

In-browser calculation privacy

All payroll withholding calculations — including federal income tax (IRS Publication 15-T percentage method), West Virginia graduated personal income tax (2.11%–4.58% under SB 392), FICA taxes (Social Security and Medicare), and municipal user fees (Charleston, Huntington, Morgantown, etc.) — are computed client-side using JavaScript in your browser.

Because calculations execute entirely on your device, we do not have access to your paycheck numbers. We do not require account registration, login credentials, Social Security Numbers (SSN), employer identification numbers, or real employee names to use the tool.

Aggregate analytics & performance

To monitor website performance and understand which West Virginia tax tools and city guides are most helpful, we may collect anonymous, aggregate traffic data using privacy-conscious analytics tools (such as Google Analytics 4).

This information includes aggregated metrics such as browser type, operating system, page views, and referring sources. None of this aggregate usage data is ever connected to, combined with, or capable of reconstructing your calculator inputs.
